Requirements and Procedures for Nomination

In order to maintain the integrity of the La Mirada High School Athletic Hall of Fame, nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and character. All candidates will be judged on their significant and or long-term contributions to athletic endeavors.

Nomination Procedure

1.  Inductees may be nominated by anyone.
2. Nomination Form
a. All entries must be submitted on the La Mirada High School Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination Form. Nomination forms must be filled out accurately and completely to ensure consideration.
b. Additional materials are encouraged to accompany the nomination form and will assist in the review process:

  • Photographs
  • Newspaper articles
  • Film footage
  • Individual or Team Statistics
  • Certificates and Awards
  • Post high school accomplishments.

3.  Nominations will remain eligible for induction for the following five years. After five years, an individual or team may be re-nominated.

Procedures For Selecting Induction Class

The La Mirada High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will meet annually to select candidates for induction. The duties and responsibilities of the La Mirada High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee are as follows:

  1.  Attend the regular scheduled selection meetings.
  2. Annually evaluate the nominations submitted who fulfill the requirements for consideration.
  3. Approve only those individuals who had significant and or long-term contributions to athletic accomplishments.
  4. Validate and approve all worthy candidates for induction.
  5. Keep all action of the La Mirada High School Athletic Hall of Fame selection process confidential.
  6. Failure to abide by the above expectations could result in the committee voting for a committee member to refrain from participation in the voting procedures.

The voting procedures of the La Mirada High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee shall be as follows:

  1. The Committee shall review candidates based on information available at the time of the selection meeting.
  2. If a committee member is related to a nominated candidate, the committee member should recuse themselves during the discussion and voting of said nominee.
  3. After an open discussion about each candidate, a vote will be conducted for the purpose of choosing inductees.
  4. Each committee member shall rank the candidates in order of desired induction preference.
  5. The inductees are determined by totaling the number of votes for each candidate. The individuals with the lowest shall be inducted into that year’s Hall of Fame, up to 10 individuals.
  6. Only one team may be inducted per year, by a majority yes or no vote
  7. Inductees will be announced at a pre-determined time following the final selection process and after the individuals have been contacted and indicated that they will accept the nomination.
